Scheduling Your 2 Hrs Newborn Photography Session
Newborn portraits are best captured in the first 4-14 days, while your baby is sleeping soundly and curling up into those adorable womb-like poses. For babies that are born early and spend time in the hospital, we recommend scheduling a session within the first week of being sent home. We encourage families to book their newborn photography session as early as possible to ensure availability. Also, We are more than happy to travel to your home to photograph these images.
Artistic Editing & Post-Processing 10 Selected Images
Your newborn portrait session is only the beginning of creating these precious memories. All images taken during the session will be given to you in the high resolution digital format. After your session, we will spend an extensive amount of time curating and post-processing 10 selected images to showcase in your gallery. We want you to treasure your final images. As you’ll see in our newborn gallery, these images are tastefully edited into a unique work of art.

Besides the high-resolution digital files & 10 fine edited images, we offer a fabulous range of keepsake albums to store your most special memory. We also provide professional photo framing services. But if your baby is older, that’s perfectly fine as well. Beautiful baby photography can be created at any age. We simply adapt the session to suit your baby’s comfort, wakefulness and developmental stage.
3. Can Parents and Siblings Be Included in the Newborn Session?
Absolutely! These are some of the most meaningful moments you’ll treasure forever. From a full baby and family photo shoot to a few tender cuddles with Mum, Dad, siblings or grandparents, your session can include everyone you love. Even family pets are welcome for your newborn photoshoot!
If you’d like to have parents and siblings at the session, we recommend wearing light-coloured outfits on the day. We’ll provide everything else for the newborn photography shoot, including any props and wraps.
4. How Long Does a Newborn Photography Session at Shmily Take?
A typical newborn session runs for around 2 hours, allowing plenty of time for feeding, settling, nappy changes, and soothing so your newborn photographer can capture your baby looking peaceful and content. But as a general rule, we allow for as much time as we need to avoid rushing you and your baby’s important photo session. Shmily is also happy to travel to your home if you prefer an in-home newborn photoshoot – talk to us about our travel fee for in-home photoshoots.
5. Do I need to prepare anything for the Newborn Photography session?
Preparation is wonderfully simple. Feed your baby shortly before leaving home or once you arrive, as a full tummy helps them settle into the session.
Dress your family in soft, neutral tones so the focus stays on your baby, and bring any special items you’d love included.
For in-home newborn photography, we help you prepare your space so the lighting and environment feel calm and comfortable.
6. Can I Personalise the Theme or Styling for My Baby’s Photos?
